Miscellany:Opposing right-to-work laws
|This is an archive of Larson for Delegate.|
I oppose right to work laws, since I think employers and unions should have freedom to negotiate whatever contracts they want, including those that would require all employees to be union members. Our laws should give neither management nor unions an unfair advantage over the other. Management should simply refuse to sign contracts that they find unduly disadvantageous.
Most unions are weak at the moment. The ones that are strong tend to be the ones whose power is enforced by the state through occupational licensing (which I oppose, because I think it causes services like plumbing and electrical work to become overpriced, by limiting the ability of workers to enter those markets).
